The Treaty on Eternal Friendship and Alliance between the Federal Republic and the Grand Principality of Pavlov was terminated this morning by a mutual agreement.
Pavlov, now the Empire of Pavlov, has been an associated state of the Federal Republic of Lostisland since 16 September 2014, when a treaty was signed by President Yaroslav Mar and the then Grand Prince Deniz (now Emperor Alexander IV). The treaty provided, among other, for Pavlovian citizens receiving Lostislandic citizenship and the Federal Republic undertaking to defend the well-being of the Grand Principality and its sovereignty in case of foreign aggression. The treaty also envisaged the elimination of border control between the countries, implementation of a joint political, cultural and social sphere. Several months after the signing of the treaty the Grand Prince, a Lostislandic citizen, won the election of the Prime Minister.
Life President Yaroslav Mar cited “incongruence with the Pavlovian policies” as a reason for terminating the Treaty; the Pavlovian side made no objections to the decision.
The Grand Principality of Pavlov, now Empire of Pavlov, was officially declared on 14 September 2014 by the Head of the Pavlovian Royal House in Exile (now House of Karapavlovič) claiming the Antarctic territories of Grahamland and Liegé Island, and minutes after the news were made public achieved recognition from the Federal Republic of Lostisland. The Grand Principality was also recognized as the successor in dignity to the historical Kingdom of Pavlov, while the Lostislandic Federation of Belastrova was recognized as the legal successor.
The historical Kingdom of Pavlov was established in mid-2012 and on 4 April 2013 merged with the Republic of Lostisland, forming the Federal Republic of Lostisland according to the Treaty of Hunter Island. Former King Deniz retained the princely title and became the Federal Prime Minister; however, just one month after the unification, a crisis within the now Federation of Pavlov forced the President to excommunicate the Prince’s cousine, a prominent Pavlovian nobleman, and eventually led to the Prince’s resignation as Prime Minister. Followed by proclamation of the independent Republic of Pavlov, the conflict was resolved only when the Lostisland’s federation was renamed to Belastrova and the Republic denounced its succession to the Kingdom and claims over the Federation’s territories.
While the Empire of Pavlov no longer enjoys special relationship with the Federal Republic of Lostisland, both parties are expected to continue cooperation through the Antarctic Micronational Union, of which both are members; the decision also will not affect the office of the Prime Minister of Lostisland, currently hold by the Pavlovian Emperor.
