In an emergency announcement delivered via live broadcast on Lostisland’s Facebook page, President for Life Yaroslav Mar has accused Russia of meddling with the ongoing election of Prime Minister by denying Lostislandic citizens the possibility to vote.
The announcement was preceded by Lostislandic online voting platform becoming inaccessible for Russian visitors several hours before the election start due to the Russian government having blocked 16 million Amazon and Google IP addresses, believed to be associated with Telegram messaging app banned by a Moscow court five days ago. As a result of the cyber blockade, outages have been reported in various organizations including Moscow’s Sheremetyevo International Airport (SVO) where online check-in system became dysfunctional due to loss of Internet connection. The company commissioned by Lostisland to organize the Prime Ministerial Election, as it turned out, hosts its servers on one of the 16 million blocked IPs which rendered voting inaccessible for Lostislandic citizens in Russia.
The community of Lostisland was established by Russian citizens and though a minority now, Russian Lostislandians make up a significant share of Lostislandic citizenry.
Calling out Russia’s leader Vladimir Putin as a “war criminal, serial murderer and enemy of civilization”, and calling on Lostislandic citizens to boycott the “corrupt and inhumane system” implemented by him, President Mar has pledged to provide all the necessary support to Russian Lostislandians to ensure their civil rights remain unharmed, recommending the usage of proxies and VPN services to overturn the IP ban.
The ongoing election will determine the Lostislandic Head of Government for the next four years and was called after the sack of the previous government and resignation of Denys Tezdzhanenko from Premiership. The candidates running are Hannes Bald, an Austrian Freemason and ex-Ambassador of Lostisland to Vienna; Elisha Mendelson, an Israeli videopresenter running with Reb Mordechai Linchart, a Rabbi and Freemason as a candidate for Deputy Prime Minister; Dr. Arvind Kumar Sharma, an Indian diplomat; and the incumbent Acting Prime Minister Denys Tezdzhanenko with Maria Ostroukhova, a Russian socialite and opera singer as his running mate.
