SERIES 2012
The inaugural Lostisland postage stamps made their debut in May 2012, showcasing the nation’s then Coat of Arms along with the portraits of renowned composers Alexander Scriabin and Claude Debussy. These commemorated the anniversaries of these musical maestros celebrated that year. This marked the initiation of a cherished Lostislandic tradition of issuing stamps in honor of historical personalities.
Since 2012, all Lostislandic stamps have been denominated in “reais,” the plural form of “real.”
In that same year, Lostisland Post extended its philatelic reach by releasing three additional stamps. Two of these were joint issues in collaboration with the Sovereign Military Roman Hadrian Order (S.M.O.R.A.), an Italian chivalric organization, and the Federal Republic of St.Charlie, a now-discontinued Italophone new nation project. The third stamp was designed to commemorate Lostisland’s intended participation in PoliNation 2012, a summit uniting new nation projects and micronations. Regrettably, due to unforeseen circumstances, the Lostislandic delegation had to cancel their participation in the event.
SERIES 2013
The launch of Lostisland’s postal service, later renamed Lostisland Post the following year, marked a remarkable success. Notably, the entire stamp issue quickly sold out within mere weeks of its debut. Bolstered by this positive beginning, the following year saw the release of four distinct stamp series.
These new series included stamps featuring Lostisland’s contemporary logo and commemorating the anniversary of the Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi. Furthermore, Lostisland issued a special stamp in 2012, which marked the historic 2012 expedition. This stamp displayed a photograph of the Lostislandic flag alongside Hunter Island.
In 2013, Lostisland Post achieved another milestone when it was commissioned as the official supplier for GUM Post, an intermicronational organization. This led to the issuance of exclusive stamps featuring the logo of this organization.
SERIES 2014
Early in 2014, the Federal Republic of Lostisland inked a significant Treaty of Mutual Recognition with the Republic of Užupis, an imaginative micronation nestled in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. To celebrate this harmonious alliance, a unique joint stamp, showcasing the distinctive logos of both Lostisland and Užupis, was unveiled. These commemorative stamps were denominated in their respective currencies, the real and the eurouž.
Additionally, in 2014, Lostisland Post introduced another captivating stamp. This one featured the Triskele, a compelling Celtic symbol that carries deep cultural significance.
SERIES 2015
While the Federal Republic of Lostisland remains a secular nation and organization, the influence of Catholicism has weaved through its historical tapestry. To pay homage to Lostisland’s rich Catholic legacy, Lostisland Post introduced a remarkable stamp in 2015. This stamp commemorated St. Teresa of Avila, a distinguished Spanish saint renowned for her transformative reforms within the Carmelite order. This issuance aligned with the celebration of the 500th anniversary of her birth.
Another captivating stamp within the same series featured Dante Alighieri, a prominent Renaissance Catholic writer and humanist. These commemorative stamps capture the essence of Catholic culture and historical significance within the broader context of Lostislandic history.
SERIES 2016
In 2016, a remarkable and unique moment unfolded in the history of Lostisland Post. For the first time, the decision on whom to feature on commemorative stamps was made collectively by the citizens of Lostisland. Through a two-round voting process, it was decided to commemorate the anniversaries of two extraordinary individuals: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the renowned Ukrainian poet, Taras Shevchenko. These commemorative stamps serve as a testament to the citizens’ active participation in shaping the nation’s cultural narrative.
Additionally, 2016 marked the introduction of a new Logo of Lostisland, celebrated with a specially issued stamp. This year holds a distinctive place in the annals of Lostisland’s philatelic history, as it reflects the active involvement of its citizens in preserving and celebrating culture and creativity.
