On the first day of the registration of candidates, sitting Prime Minister Denys Tezdzhanenko announced he will seek a fourth term in the 2022 Election of Prime Minister.
In his election statement released in the Facebook and Google groups of Lostisland on the first day of the registration of candidates, Denys Tezdzhanenko said he and his running mate Khvicha Koridze — the founder of Lostisland Philosophy Club and Georgian MMA fighter — have been working hard to “clean out the rat nest” but that to date this has not been fully completed. Denys Tezdzhanenko also added that he feels Lostisland needs a Great Reset and that in lieu of empty promises he will only make one: to keep Lostisland as a stable beacon in a community of such great turmoil.
Prime Minister Denys Tezdzhanenko had previously made conflicting statements regarding his future plans. In a 2019 speech welcoming Ambassador Rob Meyer to Russia, Tezdzhanenko announced he will not seek another term in 2022. In a 2020 interview, the Prime Minister reaffirmed his plans but said he may consider a final term “if the President asks [him] to stay.” If elected to a new — fourth — term, Denys Tezdzhanenko, who had served as Prime Minister in 2013, returned to office in 2015, and was re-elected on the 2018 snap election, could remain in office until at least 2026, thus serving for more than 11 years in total.
The submission of candidacies for the 2022 Election of Prime Minister began 7 November 2021 and will remain open till 7 February 2022. By 1 February 2022, the choice of electronic voting software to be used during the election will be officially announced, while the voting itself will be open from 1 to 7 March 2022 — to ensure that all citizens, regardless of the timezone and possible technical difficulties, are able to cast their vote. If no candidate manages to secure more than 50% of the vote, the second round shall begin on 1 April 2022 and delay till 7 April 2022. The inauguration of the new Prime Minister will take place on 7 May 2022 — exactly four years after Denys Tezdzhanenko’s current term began on 7 May 2018.
