In what was the first time that a Lostislandic citizen from abroad visited Russia, His Excellency Robert Meyer, the Ambassador of Lostisland to the United States, paid a visit to the Russian capital in the last week of May to meet the Lostislandic diaspora.
Ambassador Meyer was greeted by President Mar and Prosecutor General Chagatay as they got out of the state car and proceeded to the meeting hall, where the welcome messages were delivered. Prime Minister Tezdzhanenko, who was unable to attend the reunion, addressed the audience in his video message, where he announced he will not seek another term in 2022. The announcement came after the Prime Minister and the Prosecutor General had accused each other of corruption, and the Prosecutor General had launched a criminal investigation against the Prime Minister.
Speaking at the event and touching the latest developments, President Mar announced the ongoing investigation will be re-entrusted from the Prosecution to the Federal Intelligence and Security Service (FISS) which will also conduct an investigation against the Prosecutor General, in order to avoid a conflict of interest. The most secretive of all Lostislandic agencies, FISS usually deals with matters which are too sensitive for the Ministry of State Security, and the names of individuals associated with it are confidential. No deadline for the investigation has been specified, and its process will remain private.
In his speech to the Russian diaspora, Ambassador Meyer reassured he had played no role in the Novichok poisoning of Sergei and Yulia Skripal and in the subsequent Amesbury poisoning. The Ambassador has assured he had never met Sergei and Yulia Skripal, never exposed them to the Novichok agent, and that Lostislandic postage stamps were never used to mail the Novichok from Hunter Island to London.
At the end of the event, President Mar presented the new citizens of Lostisland with their Certificates of Citizenship, and a traditional heraldic cake was served at the end of the meeting. Other than the President and the Prosecutor General, the reunion was assisted by His Justice Supreme Judge George Emmanuel Oprea, Minister of Health Hon. Dr. Andrej Golubew MD, former Minister of Economics Mr. Viktor Medvedev, Ms. Olga Tsvetkova and Mr. Alexander Kolodyazhnyy.
