Today, we commemorate the remarkable fifteenth anniversary of our foundation, a testament to the enduring spirit, unyielding determination, and the lofty vision that has characterized our journey.
It was on this day, July 2, 2008, that a unique and visionary project was born in the form of a Russian-speaking role-playing game. This innovative concept, conceived by a creative 12-year-old girl from Saint Petersburg, was destined for greater things. The game, though engaging and promising, found itself lacking in momentum and soon faced abandonment. It was at this juncture that Yaroslav Mar, our now esteemed President for Life, stepped in, offering the project renewed direction and purpose.
However, the transformation of a role-playing game into a national project was not without its challenges. It required diligent planning, unwavering commitment, and a grand vision of an independent, democratic society. Undaunted, the mission was taken up with fervor and determination. The efforts bore fruit in the form of the Republic of Lostisland, formally proclaimed on September 1–4, 2010. This pivotal moment marked the inception of our extraordinary journey, setting the stage for our emergence as a resilient and ambitious entity in the world of micronations.
Embarking on the audacious leap from a non-territorial entity to a territorial micronation required courage, conviction, and a deep-seated belief in our national aspirations. Our symbolic claim over Hunter Island in the South Pacific, made on March 11, 2011, gave our nation a tangible presence, thereby cementing our standing on the global stage. The subsequent expedition to Hunter Island in July 2012 marked a defining moment in Lostisland’s history, a clear testament to our commitment to our territorial claim.
Guiding us through these monumental transitions has been our stalwart leader, Yaroslav Mar. His relentless pursuit of our shared ideals of freedom and sovereignty, his unwavering commitment to Lostisland, and his visionary leadership have been instrumental in shaping our destiny.
As we mark this milestone, we look back on our journey with a sense of pride and gratitude.
