In light of the takeover of Afghanistan by the Taliban terrorist group, President Yaroslav Mar signed a Decree prohibiting any kind of Lostislandic activity in Afghanistan until further notice.
The prohibition includes but is not limited to gatherings of citizens, missionary outreach, public display of Lostislandic symbols, and disclosure of citizen status, in light of the effective dissolution of the legitimate Afghanistan government and the impossibility to guarantee the safety of Lostislandic citizens in Afghanistan. In addition, the President banned Lostislandic citizens from visiting Afghanistan, save for humanitarian purposes and as approved by the Lostislandic Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Embassy of Lostisland in India will be instructed to maintain contact with the resident Lostislandic citizens in Afghanistan and offer embassy services to them to the extent possible. Due to elevated terrorism risk, no new citizenship applications made by citizens and residents of Afghanistan will be reviewed, turning Afghanistan into a second country after Pakistan on the no-citizenship list.
As of August 2021, there are two Lostislandic citizens in Afghanistan.
